Product Description
Legg may have to wait for quite a while if he's looking for a dancer who can keep up with his music. This British maker of acoustic-guitar instrumentals (three strikes straight out of the box) is such a chopsmeister that his lack of amplification didn't keep him out of the opening slot for the 1996 G-3 noodlefest (which featured Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson).
While he's capable of death-defying runs that will give you DiMeola deja vu (as evidenced on the opener, "Ragged Nail"), Legg also creates delicate tone poems that rely on texture, space and harmony to create dynamic tension. While working within the Fahey/Kottke tradition, Legg often steps outside the folk and blues realms to include touches of jazz, pop, classical and world music, and he's not afraid to stick his toe into electric waters ("Son Of Kiss Curl"). While sameness is an occupational hazard for solo guitar albums, Legg's eclecticism keeps WAITING FOR A DANCER from ever becoming too monochromatic.
